Netgear Push2TV PTV3000 Wireless Display Adapter {Review}

Wirelessly Display Your Tablet or Smartphone Screen on TV

With the NETGEAR Pust2TV PTV3000 adapter, you can view visuals from your Intel WiDi (or Miracast-capable) laptop, tablet or smartphone on your HDTV at up to 1080p resolution. The built-in dual-band Wi-Fi provides a reliable, high-speed wireless connection.

MY THOUGHTS

I had no problems connecting the PTV3000 to my HDTV. The only hassle is that every time I turn off my device, I have to reconnect to the network (Push2TV). Setting up does take a bit of patience. The package comes with the installation guide, USB cable, power adapter, and the Push2TV unit.  Note that the HDMI cable is not included. The instruction manual is a small pamphlet, but I wish the instructions would be a little more in-depth.

You can stream from your device only if it supports it. Your device must have Intel WiDi or Miracast Technology to have the PTV3000 work. The downside is that I can't use my iPad tablet (not compatible), which I use more often than other devices.

I really like the nice compact size and the design. It's great to use when we go traveling or just simply watch videos at friend's or family's place.

Setup:
  1. Connect the Pus2TV adapter to your TV and plug in the power adapter. The Push2TV adapter LED blinks when it powers up. When the LED is solid, it indicates the adapter is ready, but is not yet connected to your computer.
  2. Turn on your TV and select the correct TV input source for your TV. The screen should display "Ready for Connection".
  3. On your laptop, launch the Intel Wireless (WiDi) Display software.
  4. Use the Intel Wireless Display software to scan and find the Push2TV adapter.
  5. Double-click the detected Push2TV adapter to connect to it.
  6. If you are connecting the laptop to the Push2TV adapter for the first time, the Push2TV adapter displays a 4-digit security code on the TV. Enter this code into the Wireless Display software.
  7. Within a few seconds, the TV screen will display your laptop screen. the LED on the Push2TV adapter turns solid.
When you first connect, it asks you to update the P2TV software. I downloaded the file from Netgear's website and uploaded from the website via the P2TV network. When it's finished updating, just follow the instructions on the screen.

How much does the Netgear Push2TV adapter cost? You can purchase the Push2TV PTV3000 adapter for about $60US. And yes, I would recommend this to a friend or family member.
