Expert Skincare Tips to Prep for Winter

The key thing for preparing skin for colder months is to repair skin damage that may have been caused from longer days spent out in the sun. In addition, making sure your skin is hydrated is also important in order to protect it from the cooler weather.

Kimberly Sampson, National Training Director for emerginC, weighs in on her favorite skincare tips for achieving winter-ready skin. According to Kimberly, a great skin care regimen will include:

1) Exfoliating to remove dead skin cells so “live” skin cells can receive the hydration, vitamins and antioxidants needed for healthy cell growth.

Kim’s Tip: Choose a sugar scrub or use your favorite exfoliator to help detox and purify skin from post – summer sweat, heavy sunscreens and tanning lotions. The pre-dosed peels pads of natural fruit acids and botanical extracts will help improve skin tone and texture.

2) Choosing a serum with antioxidants and vitamin C.

Our skin needs vitamin C all year for great skin health. Applied topically, vitamin C helps diminish the appearance of pigmentation, fine lines and wrinkles, as well as sun damage.

Kim’s Tip: emerginC uses one of the most stabilized forms of vitamin C, Stay-C ® 50, vitamin E, brightening plant extracts and soothing botanical oils, in their vitamin C serums. Skin will look radiant (and younger) with continued usage.

3) Choosing a moisturizer that will help balance water and oil production to keep skin hydrated in colder weather.

Kim’s Tip: Try and choose a moisturizer that contains vitamin D (normally synthesized by our skin during sun exposure), this will help nourish and add moisture to the skin.

4) Don’t neglect body skin.

Kim’s Pick: Try a body butter, they are a great skin protectant and super moisturizing in cooler weather and fall outdoor sports.
