I've finally learned that there is another similar species and they are called damselflies. What's the difference you wonder? Here are the differences:
An adult DRAGONFLY...
- has a larger body
- has large eyes that lie flat against the head (so big that they meet in the middle at the top of the head)
- has its wings open when resting
An adult DAMSELFLY...
- has a narrow thorax the same width as the abdomen
- has eyes that are rounded and are apart (protrude at the sides)
- has its wings closed (or slightly closed) when resting
