Disney-Pixar’s "Incredibles 2" All-New Teaser Trailer & Poster

Disney•Pixar’s “Incredibles 2” is just less than seven months away! An all-new teaser trailer, poster and image from the film are now available:

Everyone’s favorite family of superheroes is back in “Incredibles 2” – but this time Helen (voice of Holly Hunter) is in the spotlight, leaving Bob (voice of Craig T. Nelson) at home with Violet (voice of Sarah Vowell) and Dash (voice of Huck Milner) to navigate the day-to-day heroics of “normal” life. It’s a tough transistion for everyone, made tougher by the fact that the family is still unaware of baby Jack-Jack’s emerging superpowers. When a new villain hatches a brilliant and dangerous plot, the family and Frozone (voice of Samuel L. Jackson) must find a way to work together again—which is easier said than done, even when they’re all Incredible.

RISING SON -- Bob (voice of Craig T. Nelson) is left to navigate the day-to-day heroics of “normal” life, giving him an opportunity to bond with his younger son, Jack-Jack, whose superpowers are emerging—much to Dad’s surprise. Directed by Brad Bird and produced by John Walker and Nicole Grindle, “Incredibles 2” busts into theatres on June 15, 2018.

Adult Acne: Which Product Option is Right for You?

There are so many acne and breakout busting treatments on the market. It’s common to get a feeling of product overload. Dr. Margarita Lolis, a Board-Certified Dermatologist in northern New Jersey who takes a holistic approach to treating skincare issues, breaks down the list of common products to consider using with the benefits of each. Hopefully this menu of options will clear some confusion.

Go simple on cleanser. People who are prone to breakouts may use a cleanser with salicylic acid triggering excessive dryness which only increases oil production leading to a breakout cycle. Gentler products that are appealing to all skin types such as Cetaphil or CeraVe are great options because they don’t strip away moisture and soothe the face.

Exfoliate weekly. They key here is not to be too harsh. You want to gently rub product into your face in circular motion then rinse with luke warm water. There are new products available with charcoal an ingredient which does a great job controlling oil in acne prone skin. People with sensitive skin should opt for an exfoliating mask which is less irritating.

Soothe with serums. Acne prone skin needs moisture not oil. Serums that address acne without compromising moisture are a great bet. Serums penetrate the skin quickly making them a great option for nighttime healing as you sleep.

Try skin oils. You can add drops of vitamin C oil, argan oil, or vitamin e oil to your serum or directly onto your face after cleansing which is like a vitamin boost to skin. This will address acne scarring helping them heal quicker.

Don’t skip moisturizer. Many people who are prone to breakouts want to skip moisturizer because they think their skin is oily enough. The reason skin is producing oil is because it is lacking moisture. Moisturizers with Hyaluronic acid draws water from the atmosphere and keeps skin hydrated. This is great for all skin types. You cannot go wrong with more water in the skin.

Consider a peel with a pro. Chemical peels are a great option for skin that has scarring and Hyperpigmentation. While there are at home, do it yourself options available I have seen many people harm their own skin with peels. You really want to work with a professional as not to make matters worse. People often think a burning sensation means it’s working so they mistakenly leave peels on for too long and hurt themselves.

Balance skin with a toner. I like toners because they do a nice job of clearing away dirt and make-up, shrinking pores, and restoring skin to its natural pH balance. Witch Hazel is a simple no fuss astringent found at any drug store which works wonders on acne or break out prone skin.

Do a mask every week. You want to choose “detoxifying masks” featuring ingredients like, charcoal, clay, sulfur. You may want to alternate between a more soothing mask one week and a treatment mask when a breakout first occurs. Another option is using a soothing mask on the cheeks and then a clarifying mask on the chin and jawline.

Spot treat and refrain from picking. We touch our faces approximately 25 times per hour. It’s hard to be conscious of it. When we have a breakout, we may sit at our desks or behind the wheel picking away. It is a habit that spreads bacteria and leads to scarring. Getting a prescription level topical spot treatment is key because many are designed to work immediately which lessens the need to pick.

Ultimately, when in doubt see your dermatologist who will assess your skin and the many factors that may be causing acne. Oftentimes dermatologists will outline a treatment regimen that is more customized to you considering age, skin type and lifestyle.

Disney-Pixar Coco Film Review: Magical and Emotional

Film Summary

Despite his family's generations-old ban on music, young Miguel dreams of becoming an accomplished musician like his idol Ernesto de la Cruz. Desperate to prove his talent, Miguel finds himself in the stunning and colorful Land of the Dead. After meeting a charming trickster named Hector, the two new friends embark on an extraordinary journey to unlock the real story behind Miguel's family history.

MY THOUGHTS:

In this film, Disney/Pixar takes you into a magical adventure through a traditional celebration of Mexico's "Day of the Dead", a holiday that focuses on gatherings of family and friends to pray for and remember those who have died, and help support their spiritual journey. Disney/Pixar's "Coco" brings the Land of the Dead to life and many of these scenes will bring you joy, music, and tears.

Miguel learns about a music contest and decided to try out. His grandmother heard about this and became furious and broke his guitar. During the Day of the Dead celebration, Miguel sneaks into the burial chamber to "borrow" the guitar. As he strummed the guitar, Miguel is magically taken into the world of the afterlife. He is then determined to find Earnesto Dela Cruz, who he thought was his uncle from the past. Along the journey, he made friends with a Hector who claims to know Ernesto Dela Cruz.

The near-ending scenes were really quite emotional and a tear-jerker. There were tears as well as laughter in the audience. The humour of some of the characters provided a balance with laughter throughout the film. I aksed my 9-year-old son what he thinks of the movie and he thought it was a bit 'dark'. The antagonist is usually a twist and not who it seems. It was quite interesting how Pixar surprised us with the storyline.

I'd say it's one of the best animated films of the year!

Infographic: Which States Tend to Send Kids Only Holiday Cards

The holidays are quickly approaching. Some people have already ordered their personalized holiday cards to send out. A couple of weeks ago, I had a fun family holiday photoshoot session with a client. They wanted a fun photo for their holiday cards this year, so we decided to do something like a pillow fight theme and wearing pajamas. I did some photo post-processing and really love the result.

Now, I want to share this interesting infographic (courtesy of Minted.com) about which States use Minted cards featuring children only as well as percentage of holiday cards that feature three or more kids. Check it out below.

Also another interesting infographic for those who have pets:

Mural by Sir Peter Blake Unveiled at West Hollywood Elementary School

Sir Peter Blake serves as honorary President of The Arts Club and is widely known for the iconic album cover he created for The Beatles’ Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band

WEST HOLLYWOOD, CA – The Arts Club, London, and West Hollywood Elementary School unveiled today a large-scale mural envisioned by world-renowned British pop artist, Sir Peter Blake, as part of The Arts Club’s ongoing community engagement and outreach program. The Arts Club, which provides a meeting place for people interested in arts, literature, and sciences, plans to open its first U.S. location in West Hollywood in 2020 with a multipurpose gallery space for art events, educational programs, and exhibitions that will be free and open to the public. The Arts Club also pledged to contribute $1 million dollars total over the next 10 years to support the presentation and expansion of the arts in West Hollywood following the proposed club’s opening.

The Blake-designed mural is a collage of more than 80 works submitted by first through fifth grade students following an invitation to illustrate themes such as diversity, creativity, and innovation, and then interpreted by Sir Peter. It was painted on-site by local artist Debi Cable. Students who participated in the program joined with parents, community leaders, and local artists on November 17 to celebrate the unveiling of the public artwork they helped inspire.

The Arts Club was founded in 1863. It served as an important hub for the creative arts in the 19th century for the likes of Charles Dickens and Anthony Trollope, two of its founding members, as well as luminaries such as Edgar Degas, Claude Monet, Auguste Rodin, James McNeill Whistler and more. Today, the club resides in Mayfair, London, and its permanent art collection as well as rotating exhibition program remains an active part of its identity.

As part of its growing mission, The Arts Club has sought to cultivate partnerships with local organizations in and around its future outpost. Leading these efforts has been the Club’s executive director, Alice Chadwyck-Healey, who says: “I was fortunate enough to meet Principal Pannell of the West Hollywood School on one of my early visits to the West Hollywood neighborhood and was immediately struck by his obvious passion for, and support of, the arts. We look forward to working closely with the School on a long-term basis. Philanthropy, education, and engagement with the arts are critical components of The Arts Club's DNA, and we are excited to kick off our long-term support of the arts in West Hollywood with this project. As our honorary President and a long-time member of the Club in London, Sir Peter Blake was the perfect artist to collaborate with on this initiative.”

Sir Peter Blake, 85, is a one of the best-known British artists of his generation and a contemporary of such lauded artists as David Hockney and Richard Hamilton. He was a prominent figure in the pop art movement in the early 1960s and 70s, and is widely recognized for the iconic album sleeve he created for The Beatles’ Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band in 1967. Sir Peter Blake, 85, said of the project, “I am pleased to have worked on this very special project for the West Hollywood Elementary School. Seeing the creativity of all the children involved was such a joy and I hope the resulting artwork, which I developed using their original ideas and creations, will brighten up their school days and serve as a reminder of their vast imaginations.”

About Sir Peter Blake
Sir Peter Blake (b. 1932, Dartford, U.K.) is a British painter, sculptor, draughtsman, and printmaker. He is known as one of the leading figures of British pop art. Blake studied at Gravesend School of Art before being accepted into the Royal College of Art, London, where he studied alongside other artists such as David Hockney, R.B. Kitaj, and Joe Tilson. Upon graduation in 1956, he began to appropriate pop culture icons and advertising imagery to create homages to the likes of Marilyn Monroe, Brigitte Bardot, Elvis Presley, and professional wrestlers. His iconic ‘Self-portrait with Badges’ (1961) in the Tate Collection shows Blake holding an Elvis album and dressed in American jeans, Converse shoes, and baseball badges. In other works, he composes assemblages of found objects with humorous allusions to art history and childhood fantasies. In 1967, he designed the well-known album cover for The Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band in his distinctive style of collage. He continues to be associated with the music world by designing album covers, including the alum art for Band Aid’s single "Do They Know It's Christmas?"

After completing his National Service with the Royal Air Force, he received the Leverhulme Research Award to study popular art and traveled through Europe in 1956-57. Blake’s first one-man exhibition was held in 1962 at the Portal Gallery, London; solo shows followed at the Robert Fraser Gallery, London (1965) and at Leslie Waddington Prints, London (1969). His first retrospective exhibition was held as early as 1969 at the City Art Gallery, Bristol. Subsequent retrospectives were held in 1973 at the Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam, touring to Hamburg, Brussels, and the Tate Gallery in 1983. In 1994, he was made the Third Associate Artist of the National Gallery, London. Blake was elected as a member of the Royal Academy in 1981 and knighted in 2002. In 2007, the Tate, Liverpool, held a major retrospective of his work, which toured to the Museo de Bellas Artes in Bilbao, Spain, in 2008. In 2010, Lund Humphries published Peter Blake: One Man Show, a comprehensive monograph of the artist’s work by Marco Livingstone. Sir Peter Blake lives and works in London.

About The Arts Club
The Arts Club was founded in 1863 by Charles Dickens and Lord Frederic Leighton in order to provide a haven for those who had professional or amateur relationships with the Arts, Literature, or Sciences, and it has provided this hospitality and friendship ever since. In 1896, the Club re-located from its original home on London’s Hanover Square to its present 18th-century townhouse at 40 Dover Street, affording its members a comfortable and impressive base in Mayfair. It has survived two world wars, including a direct hit on the building during the Blitz of 1940.

In the course of its existence, the Club has included amongst its members many outstanding figures in the history of Art, Literature, and Science, including: writers such as Charles Dickens, Wilkie Collins, and Thomas Hughes; musicians such as Paolo Tosti, Charles Halle, and Franz Liszt; and artists such as Frederic Leighton, Walter Sickert, John Everett Millais, Auguste Rodin, and James McNeill Whistler. Today, the principal areas of interest amongst the current members are art, architecture, fashion, film, literature, music, performance, photography, science, theatre, and media. It proudly continues to be a hub for creative and entrepreneurial patrons to come together to meet, exchange ideas, dine, and participate in the thriving cultural arts and events programming. The Club's art collection remains at its very core, highlighting international trends, as well as maintaining a focus on British-based artists. The permanent collection includes work by Tomas Saraceno, John Baldessari, and John Stezaker, which sit alongside both the Club’s historic collection and a series of temporary exhibitions that change throughout the year.

The Floating Comfort Pillow by Mediflow {Review & Giveaway}

Need better sleep? The Floating Comfort Pillow by Mediflow, is clinically proven to improve your quality of sleep. The comfort pillow features an exclusive waterbase technology that provides responsive support by adapting to the shape of your head and neck as you move during sleep. No matter which way you lay, your head and neck remain in proper alignment, creating a totally different kind of sleeping experience. It’s the gift of a good night’s sleep!

MY THOUGHTS: This pillow is the most comfortable of all other that I've used. I like how it can be adjusted to each individuals comfort level. There's a compartment where you just fill the pillow with tap water until you reach your desired amount of firmness (soft, medium, firm, or in-between). The surface is a cloudlike layer so it's really soft.

If you're like me who always have to wake up to adjust in the middle of the night (either because it's too warm or change in the firmness), then this is the pillow I'd recommend because it keeps cool as I shift without having to turn it over.  The aqua support pouch provides responsive support while I sleep. Great gift for a friend or loved one who needs a good comfortable sleep!

BENEFITS:

► features exclusive CombedLoft™ Fiber
► the only pillow clinically proven to improve the quality of sleep, as noted by a peer-reviewed study conducted at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine
► deeper sleep (no more waking up to fluff your pillow) and a reduction in neck pain
► It’s customizable and adjustable. Choose your preferred filling (fiber, foam and feather) and level of comfort – just fill the pillow with tap water until you reach your desired amount of firmness
► Invented in Canada and ranked #1 selling pillow in six countries (USA, Canada, UK, Germany, France and China)
► Over 5 million sold – reaching #1 on global e-commerce platforms including Amazon, Shopify, Bed Bath & Beyond, and Alibaba with consistent 4+ Star reviews
► Reached #1 Bestseller in Amazon Home & Kitchen during July 2017 among 24,163,959 items

WHERE TO BUY: The Floating Comfort Pillow by Mediflow MSRP is only $49.99USD and can be purchased at www.mediflow.com. Also available through Amazon.com

Marvel Studios Thor: Ragnarok [Film Review]

FILM SUMMARY: In Marvel Studios' "Thor: Ragnarok," Thor is imprisoned on the other side of the universe without his mighty hammer and finds himself in a race against time to get back to Asgard to stop Ragnarok--the destruction of his homeworld and the end of Asgardian civilization--at the hands of an all-powerful new threat, the ruthless Hela. But first he must survive a deadly gladiatorial contest that pits him against his former ally and fellow Avenger--the Incredible Hulk!

"Thor: Ragnarok" led the box office again fro the 2nd weekend since the release. As the show started, the audience seem excited and predicted that this was going to be a good and entertaining movie. I agree with them. This was one of the best Marvel films I've seen. I think that Chris Hemsworth is the perfect star to play the role as Thor. For this latest installment, Chris Hemsworth thought it's time that it needed to be done differently. Directed by Taika Waititi, many of us enjoyed the Thor humor that he has created. Thor: Ragnarok is brilliant and funny!

Released November 3, 2017. See it in theatres

Fan Expo Vancouver 2017 [Event Recap + Cosplay Photos]

What an amazing weekend it was at Fan Expo Vancouver! Fan Expo is a 3-day convention celebrating pop culture, fandoms of sci-fi, fantasy, anime, gaming, comics, and many other things for the inner geeks. It was exhausting for many of us, but it was worth all the fun, the memories and a chance to meet cosplayers, artists, and special guests. A slight change this year is that the ticketing booth was near the end of the promenade just before FlyOver Canada instead of the usual entrance next to the Pan Pacific Hotel. This made the area in the foyer much less crowded.

Unfortunately, Arrow star, Stephen Amell as well as Legends of Tomorrow star, Caity Lotz had to cancel last minute due to other commitments. I would've been nice to see them at the panel to hear them talk about their characters they play. But we did catch up with The Flash Q&A panel with Danielle Panabaker, Carlos Valdes, Tom Cavanagh, Candice Patton, and Grant Gustin. Candace brought her puppy, Zoe, with her.

Click here for the full Q&A Panel.

Here are some of the talented artists, illustrators, and writers that we've met:

Last, but not least... there were lots of amazing cosplays out there. Very creative! Great work everyone!

Breaking the Ice with Icewine

It is a world-renowned style of wine that can only be crafted under specific -8 degree to -10 degree C temperatures, for which our cool Canadian climate is ideal. But to many Canadians, Icewine remains a bit of a mystery drink — they see a type of wine with deep colours in a skinny little bottle that they aren’t used to seeing on the wine shelves in the liquor store. It looks different than a typical bottle of wine, so questions are raised about how it should be stored, serving temperature, pouring etiquette, proper glassware and what should be enjoyed with it.

“Many people assume Icewine to be too sweet for their palate – perhaps comparing Icewine to the sweetness in maple syrup. says Scott McGregor, Winemaker at Lakeview Wine Co., a division of Diamond Estates Wine & Spirits. “In fact, this is not the case. Great Icewine has a delicate balance of sweetness and acidity, with concentrated flavours and fantastic pairing opportunities.”

Making Icewine is a detailed and complex process that starts during harvest when the winemaker decides which grapes are going to be left on the vines until winter’s deep freeze hits. There they will stay until late December or January — exactly when they are picked is determined by Mother Nature when she graces the vineyard with three or four days where the temperature stays below -8°C. The grapes, which now resemble little frozen marbles, are hand-picked and pressed while frozen to extract a small amount of sweet, concentrated nectar — typically yielding about 15% of what those grapes would have produced had they been picked during the earlier table wine harvest. Following the unique harvesting procedures, Icewines are then fermented and aged in the same process as a regular dinner wine. The Icewine is then bottled in their signature tall bottles and the sweet treat is ready to enjoy!

Recently, one of Scott’s creations – the Lakeview Cellars Cabernet Franc Icewine won a Gold Medal and Best Value distinction at the 2017 InterVin International Wine Awards. Not only did this Icewine score highly in the Red Icewine category – it also received top honours with “Best Dessert Wine” in the show– being among the top four scores of over 1200 entries from around the world.

Scott answers some of the common queries about Icewine:

How do I store my Icewine? Icewines will keep for several years stored in the right conditions — on a slant to keep the cork wet, away from vibrations and with a consistent temperature around 12-15°C. But as with any table wine, not all Icewines will benefit from aging, and that all depends on the varietal selected. Chardonnay, Cabernet Franc and Merlot Icewines should be enjoyed while still young while something like a Riesling will age nicely. Once the bottle is opened, you should enjoy it within three to five days.

How do I serve Icewine? Icewines are ideally enjoyed chilled between 10-12°C, so if you are taking out of the cellar it may need some time in the fridge. But it is finicky about the temperature. Too warm and it will lose its crispness; too cold and it cuts the aroma. Due to how sweet and rich an Icewine is, about two ounces per glass should suffice.

When do I pour it? There is a stereotype that Icewine is a dessert wine and should be held to the end of the meal. And while it is great as a dessert, it also matches well with seafood or other main course dishes that involve something caramelized.

What kind of glass is best? Ditch the skinny dessert glasses. To fully enjoy the aromas of Icewine, use a standard white wine glass that will allow the wine to breath and give you space to swirl the wine before enjoying it. Pro tip – chill the wine glasses in the fridge for 10 minutes before pouring the Icewine in.

Do I have to drink it straight? Absolutely not. A splash of Icewine is a great addition to a cocktail or to add a little something extra to a glass of sparkling wine.

What should I pair it with? If you are enjoying your Icewine with dessert, the first rule is you don’t want the dessert to be sweeter than the Icewine. If you have a white, enjoy it with fruit-based desserts while red Icewine is exquisite with dark chocolate. They are also ideal with a variety of cheeses — blue veined, triple cream, goat cheese, washed rind cheeses, aged cheeses, salty parmesan. If pairing with a main course, go spicy — Thai, Indian, Mexican or Creole. It’s a nice balance to the sweetness of the wine, and may help cool off a burning palate.
