Canadian Pacific: Stunning New Book Captures the Story of the Company That United Canada

Following the success of the Standard Edition in November 2015 of Canadian Pacific: Creating A Brand, Building A Nation, Callisto Publishers is releasing a spectacular, vibrant Premium Edition of the intriguing and visually-stunning story of the company that united Canada politically and became the world’s greatest and most diverse transportation. The Premium Edition comes in a hand-crafted collector's case with a wood veneer cover symbolizing the natural beauty of Canada. Additional care was devoted to reproduce all images true to the originals.

MY THOUGHTS: I was provided a digital copy of this stunning book and was fascinated with the illustrations. It taught us much about the history and the educational journey  through these historical illustrations and photos. This volume also demonstrates how a uniquely Canadian graphic design style developed over time, the essence of which can be felt in Canadian design until this day. The making of modern Canada is unimaginable without Canadian Pacific and its lasting achievements.

Up to now virtually nothing has been published about Canadian Pacific's decisive role in “branding” the nation at home and abroad. The company's visionary leaders used the railway line's potential to its fullest, swiftly creating a pioneering global travel and transportation empire, for several decades the world's biggest. As Canada's main private land owner, Canadian Pacific became a key sponsor of immigration. These and numerous other activities were publicized with unparalleled proficiency and quality, projecting a dream-like world of the new state that became part of its identity. Never before or after has a single company influenced a nation and its image to such an extent.

FEATURES:

About the Publisher:
Berlin-based Callisto Publishers selects topics from the fields of design, art, and architecture that are especially well suited to be represented by a printed book, rather than an electronic medium, aspiring to create printed works of perfect quality in terms of content, design, and production. Strong contemporary design requires solid knowledge of the designs and methods of the past. Which designs endured, which did not, and why? Calisto’s books analyze trends of the past that are relevant for understanding design today and in the future.
