New Flights Make Saint Lucia Escape a Summer Breeze

JetBlue Airways adds more direct flights to St. Lucia from New York starting in June, making idyllic island oasis Calabash Cove Resort & Spa easier to reach than ever this summer.

More direct flights from the Big Apple to St. Lucia this summer will make it even easier to escape to idyllic Calabash Cove Resort & Spa from the northeastern United States – all while enjoying the resort’s lowest rates of the year. Plus, when you book through Calabash directly and stay for 7 nights or longer, you’ll receive a complimentary luxury private car transfer and island refreshments to enjoy on your way to the spectacular, seaside boutique resort.

Beginning June 28 through September 4, 2012, JetBlue Airways will offer daily non-stop flights between New York's JFK International Airport (JFK) and St. Lucia's Hewanorra Airport (UVF). The JetBlue flight departs New York at 8:29 a.m. each day and arrives in St. Lucia at 1:07 p.m, while return flights depart St. Lucia at 2:10 p.m. to arrive back in New York at 7:12 p.m.

Nestled on a gently sloping, tropical beachfront on the northwest coast of the island, Calabash Cove features 26 suites, all with Jacuzzis and many with private pools, as well as a full-service spa and fitness center, infinity-edge designer swimming pool, restaurant, cocktail bar, library, and game room. For dates booked from April 15 through December 22, 2012, Calabash Cove is offering reduced seasonal rates starting at just $385/night, depending on accommodations and meal plan selected. Choose from the European Plan (EP), featuring a daily island breakfast buffet, or the Luxury Gourmet Plan (LGP), an all-inclusive option that includes all meals and beverages throughout your stay. All of the rooms feature unparalleled views of the sea, the capital Castries to the south, or nearby Martinique to the north from a private balcony. Choose from the following accommodations when planning your vacation:

    • Water’s Edge Cottages - Each of the nine handcrafted teak and mahogany Water’s Edge Cottages on the beach is replete with private plunge pool for late night dips, outdoor rain shower for tropical sensations, private Jacuzzi for sipping Champagne the right way, and a lazy patio hammock surrounded by tropical flora oft visited by the island’s hummingbirds. These luxurious hideaways offer unparalleled views of the bay with the majestic Pitons in the distance and exquisite Caribbean sunsets. When night and stars steal across the sky, curl up in the spacious living area as sea breezes drift gently through. Each cottage offers a TV/DVD/hi-fi system, broadband internet connection, refrigerator, coffee/tea maker, and of course, room service to deliver for-your-eyes-only dining pleasures and drinks. Summer rates are $565/night for the European Plan (EP), which includes island breakfast buffet daily, and $775/night for the All Inclusive (AI) plan, which includes all meals and beverages during your stay (based on double occupancy).

    • Swim-Up Junior Suites – These unique, 620-square-foot junior suites offer luxury and comfort, including private Jacuzzis – and are located just steps from Sweetwaters, the oversized, infinity-edge pool, offering unrestricted and private access directly from the patio of your room. Swim across to the bar and watch the sunset while you enjoy one of the resort’s signature cocktails, or take a romantic midnight swim. Summer rates are $445/night for the EP and $655 for AI (based on double occupancy).

    • Sunset Ocean View Junior Suites – Combining contemporary luxury with stunning ocean views, these junior suites feature private, furnished balconies, Jacuzzis, spacious living areas and luxury baths. Enjoy a view of Mount Gimie, the island’s tallest peak in the distance during the day, and the sparkling lights of Castries, the island’s capital, at night. Winter rates are $385/night for the EP and $595/night for AI (based on double occupancy)

During your stay, rejuvenate mind, body and spirit at the resort’s Ti Spa, overlooking the Sweetwaters infinity pool poised at bay’s edge and the wide expanse of the beach. Revitalizing treatments combine European technique with St. Lucia’s rich tradition of plant- and fruit-based curatives. Each can be enjoyed in a private treatment room or in the privacy of your room. The spa’s Fitness Centre is outfitted with Cybex cardiovascular equipment, and a full beauty salon offers hair treatments and mani - pedi services.

Calabash Cove’s own Windsong Restaurant offer an international menu with Asian inflections, specializing in seasonally inspired dishes made from the freshest local ingredients. Unobstructed views across the Caribbean Sea enhance the menu’s sensory delights. Complimenting Windsong’s elegant milieu is the convivial C-bar, which serves international cocktails and fine wines from the Calabash Cove Cellars amid lively island music.

In addition to its natural beauty, St. Lucia’s increasing allure also comes from its broad array of recreation and entertainment. In July, for example, the island becomes a colorful collage of Saint Lucian art, culture music and dance during its annual St. Lucia Carnival celebration. Guests who prefer more active adventures will not be disappointed. Whether its hiking the island’s iconic Pitons, side-by-side volcanic peaks, or sailing on an authentic pirate's galleon, soaking in hot springs, cooling off under a waterfall, zip-lining through a rainforest canopy, exploring a working cocoa plantation, and shopping in a quaint fishing village, St. Lucia has something to offer everyone. Calabash Cove will help to transform guests’ dreams into reality with full concierge service for those who wish to explore the island.
