Westcoast Road Trip Day 14: Universal Studios/Hollywood

It was day 14 of our vacation on May 13th. At about 9:45am, we left Anaheim to visit Universal Studios in Hollywood, CA. We got there at 10:30am so the commute took us about an hour. We took the 101 freeway. Traffic was a bit crazy as usual. We got cut off by a semi truck -- quite scary.

It was another perfect sunny day. There were some interesting things to see and characters like Curious George monkey, Spongebob, Diego, Dora, The Simpsons, and Shrek & Fiona. The line up for pictures weren't as crazy as the ones in Disneyland. Universal Studios was a smaller park, so we didn't spend too long there. We skipped the shows because we had to leave soon to our next destination.

After Universal Studios, we went over to the Chinese Theatre and checked out the Hollywood Walk of Fame.  There were too many people around to get pictures on the sidewalk, but I did get a few.

Wow, Beard Papa's cream puffs are more expensive here than in Vancouver. We can get them each for $1.75 Cdn rather than $2.35 US.

By 4:00pm, we were on the road on Highway 101 to Santa Maria, CA.

Passing by Conejo Mountain (EL 1814 FT)

Ynez Mountains and San Marcos Pass on Hwy 154. We took the shortcut from here and then connected back o to Hwy 101.

There were quite some "mountainous" areas along this route. By 6:55pm, we finally connected back onto Hwy 101 again. We arrive in Santa Maria at 7pm and had a late dinner at a Japanese restaurant. The food was not too bad and the prices were reasonable.
