SpongeBob SquarePants The New Musical - Original Cast Recording is Out Today

The Original Cast Recording of SpongeBob SquarePants – The New Musical is released today on September 22, 2017 by Masterworks Broadway. The album features a score of original songs unlike anything Broadway has ever heard and is produced by Scott Riesett and Tom Kitt, with executive producers Scott Farthing, Doug Cohn and Susan Vargo. A special two-LP vinyl version of the recording will be released November 3, in anticipation of the show’s Broadway performances which begin November 6 at the Palace Theater in New York City.

A visionary director and a Tony Award®-winning design team bring one of the world’s most beloved and unforgettable characters to Broadway in SpongeBob SquarePants, with a legendary roster of Grammy Award-winning songwriters coming together to give the musical its distinctive voice.

To write the songs that give an irrepressible and eclectic voice to the world and the story of SpongeBob SquarePants, the production reached out to leading songwriters in the rock and pop worlds. The composer/lyricists include Yolanda Adams, Steven Tyler and Joe Perry of Aerosmith, Sara Bareilles, Jonathan Coulton, Alex Ebert of Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, The Flaming Lips, Lady Antebellum, Cyndi Lauper, John Legend, Panic! At the Disco, Plain White T’s, They Might Be Giants, and T.I., and songs by David Bowie, Tom Kenny & Andy Paley, with additional lyrics by Jonathan Coulton and additional music by Tom Kitt.

Stakes are higher than ever before as SpongeBob and all of Bikini Bottom face the total annihilation of their undersea world. Chaos erupts. Lives hang in the balance. And just when all hope seems lost, a most unexpected hero rises up and takes center stage.

SpongeBob SquarePants – The New Musical is produced by Nickelodeon with Sony Music Masterworks, The Araca Group and Kelp on the Road.

Since premiering on Nickelodeon in July 1999, SpongeBob SquarePants has emerged as a pop culture phenomenon. The series has been the most-watched animated program with kids for more than 13 consecutive years, and over the past several years, it has averaged more than 1 million total viewers every quarter across all Nickelodeon networks. As the most widely distributed property in Viacom history, SpongeBob is seen in over 185 countries and translated in more than 50 languages. The character-driven cartoon chronicles the nautical and sometimes nonsensical adventures of SpongeBob, an incurably optimist and earnest sea sponge, and his undersea friends.

Top Post Summer Skin Issues & How to Fix Them

As we head into the cooler months the weather change impacts our skin. We may notice changes to texture, tone, perhaps some breakouts and over all ruddiness and damage from being outside enjoying the summer. Here are some of the most common post summer skin issues I see in my practice along with some solutions for them.

Thanks to Board Certified Dermatologist, Dr. Margarita Lolis explains to us how to fix summer skin issues.

1. Sunspots and wrinkles.

Days at the beach or pool can lead to sunspots even if you apply sunscreen. We cannot reach every spot and sometimes we forget to reapply after swimming. Also, even when wearing polarized sunglasses, we may put them on our heads; temporarily squinting leading to crow’s feet.

If you’re noticing some new spots, freckles and wrinkles reach for a retinoid. Your dermatologist can offer prescription strength creams. Deeper wrinkles like the ones between the eyes usually require something like Botox but, you can minimize the appearance with creams that feature glycolic acid or alpha hydroxy acid. These are wonder vitamins for the skin stimulate skin shedding and cellular turn over. A serum used at night will help; but be patient and use it regularly to see a gradual change. Chemical peels and intense light treatments (IPL) can handle any discoloration.

2. Clogged pores and dullness.

During the summertime, we perspire plus we are exposed to daily pollution in the air. When you combine these factors plus daily use of make-up, pores get clogged. Beneath the skin are our sebaceous glands which secrete an oil called sebum. Sebum sticks to dead skin cells like glue and funnels these dead skin cells through the pores. This is a process that is supposed to help you maintain healthy skin. The problem is when the weather and elements speed up the process pores become clogged. The dead skin cells get trapped along with bacteria and this leads to dull, ruddy skin with breakouts. An exfoliating face wash with glycolic acid or salicylic acid helps tremendously. Your dermatologist can create a skin care regimen based on your specific skin type and issues so you don’t deregulate pH levels in the skin which will only make things worse leading to…

3. Acne flare ups.

Consistent heat and humidity combined with cell phone use and touching our faces after touching dirty surfaces, leads to a post-summer breakout. These breakouts can be cystic which means bigger, deeper, more painful pimples. It also can lead to a cycle of breakouts that include, treat, pick, peel, scar, and heal only to see another pimple and another. Over the counter acne treatments such as face washes with sulfur, black charcoal masks and soaps, spot treatments with benzoyl peroxide can certainly help. However, when the breakouts are consistent a dermatologist can assess your skin and present solutions that may even involve nutritional changes, vitamins and light therapy for mild or moderate acne.

4. Dry lips.

We all know about winter time lip chapping. In the summer lips can get incredibly dry. Using a lip balm with SPF is very helpful but unless we are applying it regularly while at the beach, pool, or working out outdoors, one swipe under lip gloss isn’t enough. Drinking water, and keeping alcohol consumption to a minimum helps keep us hydrated. When we are dehydrated, we see it on our lips. Pay close attention to any freckles or discoloration to the lips after prolonged sun exposure. If you see any odd changes, see your dermatologist.

5. Ashy, flaky, itchy, skin.

If you are often in chlorine or salt water you’ll find your skin to feel rough and dry almost as if it is shedding. Also, going from extreme heat to cool air conditioning leads to skin going from perspiration to goosebumps. This rapid drop in temperature affects skin. Taking luke-warm showers and using a gentle exfoliating skin wash followed by a hydrating moisturizer keeps skin supple. Add a few drops of vitamin E to your lotion for added nourishment.

When it comes to the face, peeling foreheads and noses points to sun damage. Oftentimes people wait until something is visible to them or when an is followed by a dry patch. Dermatologists can look at things with a more discerning eye plus magnifiers that enable them to flag something that could escalate into something more. If everyone put October on their calendars as the month to see a dermatologist for a skin check we would see many skin conditions be solved quicker. This includes melanomas.

This Is Us: Music from the Series #ThisIsUsMusic

Are you a fan of the television series "This Is Us"? If you are, then you probably know that Season 2 premieres Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at 9pm on NBC. I've been watching it since the beginning and I'm also a big fan of the actors/actresses.

Anyway, I'm pretty excited to announce that This Is Us (Music from the Series), featuring Top Songs from NBC Hit Show’s First Season, is going to be available on September 15 from UMe! I've always enjoyed the music that I hear from watching the show. Sometimes it makes me feel emotional.

There's a lot great tunes in this album, but I think my favorite song would probably be "Willin'" by Mandy Moore (Song on YouTube here). She is an amazing actress and has an amazing voice.

I also like the song called THE WIND (by Cat Stevens). As I remember, the music begins when Rebecca (Mandy Moore) tells Jack (Milo Ventimiglia) that the washing machine is done. With the closing scene of the episode, Rebecca goes to make herself something to eat and the scene plays through memories of the family going of the usage of the washing machine over the years.

Album features 20 songs curated by “This Is Us” Creator/Executive Producer Dan Fogelman and his team, music supervisor Jennifer Pyken and composer/musician Siddhartha Khosla.

Preorder the album here: https://UMe.lnk.to/ThisIsUs

See the full track listing below of This Is Us (Music from the Series):

1. Death With Dignity – Sufjan Stevens
2. You Can Call Me Al – Paul Simon
3. Willin’ – Mandy Moore
4. Can’t Find My Way Home – Blind Faith
5. Uptight (Everything’s Alright) – Stevie Wonder
6. The Calvary Cross – Richard Thompson & Linda Thompson
7. Watch Me – Labi Siffre
8. The Wind – Cat Stevens
9. Come Talk To Me – Goldspot
10. Blues Run The Game – Jackson C. Frank
11. If Only – Maria Taylor (featuring Conor Oberst)
12. Northern Sky – Nick Drake
13. If I Ever Was A Child – Wilco
14. Because Of You – Gene Clark
15. Evergreen Cassette (Tape Mix) – Goldspot
16. Without You – Badfinger
17. The World’s Smiling Now – Jim James
18. Photograph – Ringo Starr
19. We Can Always Come Back To This – Brian Tyree Henry
20. This Is Us Score Suite – Siddhartha Khosla

Here are some of my favorite scenes from Season 1:

Disney's Descendants 2 {Review}

Disney's Descendants 2 had just released on DVD on August 15, 2017.

The story deepens in the music-driven sequel to the global smash hit "Descendants," as the teenage sons and daughters of Disney's most infamous villains -- Mal, Evie, Carlos and Jay (also known as Villain Kids or VKs) -- try to find their place in idyllic Auradon.

When the pressure to be royally perfect becomes too much for Mal, she returns to her rotten roots on the Isle of the Lost where her archenemy Uma, the daughter of Ursula, has taken her spot as self-proclaimed queen of the run-down town. Uma, still resentful over not being selected by Ben to go to Auradon Prep with the other Villain Kids, stirs her pirate gang including Captain Hook's son Harry and Gaston's son Gil, to break the barrier between the Isle of the Lost and Auradon, and unleash all the villains imprisoned on the Isle, once and for all.

MY THOUGHTS: The Villain Kids are back in action and Descendants 2 is the better sequel. I really enjoyed the movie and it was fun watching with my kids. Though it started off a little slow, there were some good scenes mostly near the end.

Disclosure: I received a complimentary copy for review purposes. My opinions are my own and may differ from those of other consumers. No other compensation was given.

9/11 Film - Autographed Poster and Gift Pack Giveaway

Gift Pack Giveaway

Where were you on September 11th of 2001?  I was at work that day and our boss just notified us of the news about a plane that crashed the World Trade Center. I work with a company that also deals with suppliers within the US so words travel quickly.  I was thinking about my American friends and relatives and worrying about them. This news made me sad and really mad at the same time. I didn't have kids back then. The number of children who lost their parents were just over 3000 and number of people who were injured was over 6000.  It was a terrible tragic event. I never felt so scared!

Our American friends were still definitely shakened for days and months. Good people around the world did as much as they could to help. I remember I traveled to New York in 2005 and I visited the disaster site. Being there made me cry. I prayed for those families and heroes who lost their lives fighting for our country. Now that I have children, I will tell them the story of this history of the event and how we all stick together to become stronger together.

ABOUT THE FILM:

9/11 opens in theaters on September 8 and features an all-star cast including Charlie Sheen, Whoopi Goldberg, Luis Guzman (The Taking of Pelham 1,2,3), Gina Gershon (Showgirls), Wood Harris (Justified), Jacqueline Bisset (Dancing on the Edge (BBC), Welcome to New York), Olga Fonda (The Vampire Diaries) and Bruce Davison (X-Men).

In the World Trade Center, a billionaire sits in his attorney’s office awaiting a divorce hearing against his wife. In a west side apartment, a bike messenger kisses his 5-year old daughter and sings her “Happy Birthday” before leaving for work. A maintenance man gets dispatched to help a tenant with his lock. In an upper east side apartment, a young model musters the courage to break up with her sugar daddy. As random as random can be, these individuals step into a crowded World Trade Center elevator.

Wrapped up in their own world, they all ride silently hearing only the sound of the elevator giving notice of each floor. When the elevator stops on the 34th floor, it empties leaving only these five behind. Moments later ... their world changes as the collision of a jet into the North Tower incapacitates the elevator.

With no understanding of what has happened and is happening around them, these fives are forced to band together and fight against all odds to escape from the impending horrific collapse. During these critical minutes, a story of courage, faith, and the will to live unfolds.

Learn more on their website, Facebook, Twitter, and You Tube.

{ GIVEAWAY DETAILS }

The Prize Pack Contains:
1 x 9/11 poster Hand Signed Autographed by star Charlie Sheen
1 x “Hope” Pendant with necklace

Revscene Summer Meet 2017 Coverage

This year's event was held at the large parking lot at Tsawwassen Mills Shopping Centre. Amazing turn out and amazing cars! Thanks everyone for coming out! I brought my son with me as he is always excited to attend these car events. I insured my car for the day just for this meet. It's been almost 10 years since I've brought my Honda Civic to a Revscene meet.

When I got there, I saw a couple of parking spots and went into that lot. I was quite impressed with how behaved most of the drivers were and not making too much noise and any unnecessary things like revving their engines. I sae someone posted on the forum that there were people doing donuts in the loyalty, but I haven't noticed anything.

It was nice to see some long time Revscene friends and learned how much each of us has changed/grew up over these years. Many of us already have their own families and kids.

Photo gallery from the Revscene Summer Meet 2017 is up. Feel free to tag owners. You can also find me on Instagram @jennieyuen. Thanks!
