Frugal Dog Tips

Are you a dog owner? Spending too much for your pet when you can save a lot of money and still give the best for them? I'm always thinking of ways to save money for our family. I have compiled a list of cost-cutting methods that will ease your wallet and keep your pet healthy and happy as can be.

DOGGY TREAT ALTERNATIVES

Dog treats are expensive. Many dogs love treats, but you don't need to buy doggy treats every time to keep them happy. You can provide them healthier choices by giving them the same fruit and veggies we eat. You can also make homemade dog biscuits. Do an online search for dog treat recipes. There's a lot of info you can find on the web.

DO YOUR OWN DOG GROOMING

Don't be lazy. I know it's not an easy job, but it will save you a lot if you groom your dog yourself at home. If you don't have your own backyard, you can find a facility that provides dog baths or even a self-serve car wash station. I've seen people do it.

DOGGY BEDS

Why would you spend $25-$50 on a doggy that lasts a year when you can use a bed pillow for as cheap as $5? I don't need a super fancy dog bed, but as long as they are happy and comfortable, it's fine with me. You can use an old quilt to cover it.

USE COUPONS

Whenever I can, I use coupons to save money on pet food.

TRAINING

Unwanted dog barking behaviour can be frustrating and annoying. Dog bark collars are a training aide to help you curb nuisance barking. Dog bark control collars work by providing your dog an instant correction. When a dog barks, the bark is detected by a sensor that picks up vibrations of the vocal chords, or a microphone that picks up the noise. The collar corrects the behavior by responding with a correction. With the collar and a little training, the dog quickly learns that barking earns him an unpleasant correction and reduces or eliminates the problem behaviors.
