The Daily Meal covers all things food and drink, creating a complete epicurean experience for cooks, food lovers, wine, beer and spirit connoisseurs, discerning diners and everyone in-between. Helmed by editorial director Colman Andrews, The Daily Meal is the fastest growing food site on the Web.

In May, Carl’s. Jr. began testing the "ice cream brrrger" in select markets across the country. The new item on the dessert menu includes a scoop of chocolate ice cream topped with red, green, and yellow frostings, and sandwiched between two sugar cookies to resemble a burger.

Now that more people are traveling for the summer, there is an app called Poynt that lets you connect to local offers, businesses, events, restaurants, gas prices and weather information while traveling. Poynt users can search for restaurants in their area and reserve a table directly from the app. Users can also take advantage of Google Maps for directions, as well as a search for local movie listings, events and even the best stations for gas prices helping to make your summer travel plans quick, organized and enjoyable.

With more than 16 million unique users on all major smartphone and tablet platforms in nine countries, Poynt is the perfect summer travel guide. Anyone traveling this summer will need to know all the local options available, whether it is a complete list of restaurants or the cheapest way to fuel-up their car for the ride home.

Every ingredient and recipe in your kitchen has a story. You eat what you eat because of where you came from and the people that fed you along the way. The evolution of your personal food history is directly related to your upbringing, whether it was a holiday tradition that sparked your love for baking or your traditional Italian family that fostered an addiction to all things cheesy. The point is food played an integral role in the formation of your social traditions.

From the Family Kitchen, by Gena Philibert-Ortega, is essential reading for anyone interested in the intersection of cooking, food origins and family traditions. Exploring the cultural, economic and physical factors that influence our food choices, the book inspires readers to dig into their family food histories and preserve them for future generations. In addition to historical guidance and practical genealogical resources, From the Family Kitchen also includes a beautiful recipe journal to encourage readers to record their own family traditions. Whether your interest lies in exploring food history and how certain traditions or tastes came to be, experimenting with vintage recipes and hosting techniques or recording personal food traditions for (and with!) your family, From the Family Kitchen offers something for everyone.

Celebrate Your Family Recipes and Heritage

From Great-grandma's apple pie to Mom's secret-recipe stuffing, food is an important ingredient in every family's history. This three-part keepsake recipe journal will help you celebrate your family recipes and record the precious memories those recipes hold for you--whether they're hilarious anecdotes about a disastrous dish or tender reflections about time spent cooking with a loved one.

The foods we eat tell us so much about who we are, where we live and the era we live in. The same is true for the foods our ancestors ate. This book will show you how to uncover historical recipes and food traditions, offering insight into your ancestors' everyday lives and clues to your genealogy. Inside you'll find:

- Methods for gathering family recipes
- Interview questions to help loved ones record their food memories
- Places to search for historical recipes
- An explanation of how immigrants influenced the American diet
- A look at how technology changed the way people eat
- A glossary of historical cooking terms
- Modern equivalents to historical units of measure
- Actual recipes from late nineteenth- and early twentieth-century cookbooks

This is a wonderful book pack with great information and recipes. It discusses about family food traditions as well as family food history. At the back of the book (about 1/3 of the book) is a recipe journal where you can write down your favorite family recipes and share them with other family members.

Do you love desserts? Who doesn't? Now you can have desserts to go - wherever you want and whenever you want - with Desert Bites by Allan Candy Company. Yep, the same company that makes delicious candies.

With Allan Dessert Bites, you can have a taste of your favorite desserts anytime. The soft and chewy candy combined with a rich and creamy coating provide the perfect dessert experience in a bite sized piece. So why not indulge a little today? You deserve a bite of dessert!

I was given the opportunity to try these new products. I received one of each flavor: Strawberry Shortcake, Chocolate Raspberry Cheesecake, Keylime Pie, and Apple Pie. It's like candy and dessert and definitely delicious. My most favorite is the keylime pie flavor. All of them are actually pretty addicting. "Once you pop, you just can't stop" is what I thought. My husband and son also LOVES them!

The texture is like jelly/gummy in the middle that has the flavor and sugar coating (or the chocolate coating) on the outside. The white coating is a creamy yogurt based confection. The package comes with a resealable ziplock to keep its freshness.

Allergen alert: May contain traces of peanuts, wheat or gluten.

Dessert Bites are perfect for entertaining, or can be stored away in a bag or desk for a stolen moment of enjoyment. This is a treat to share with a good friend over a cup of tea at the end of a long day, in the car during carpool when rush hour won’t end, or maybe with an afternoon coffee before that big meeting. No matter how busy the day is, everybody deserves a little dessert, and there is always time for Dessert Bites.

WHERE TO BUY? Conveniently packaged for on-the-go indulgence, Dessert Bites will soon be available at most grocery, mass merchandise and convenience stores in 200-gram resealable bags. Currently found at WalMart and Sobeys Ontario stores, Dessert Bites will land on shelves at Loblaw, Giant Tiger, London Drugs, and more in the near future.
