Photoshooting the Stars

Hubby and I went to take a drive up to Porteau Cove and stayed overnight in Squamish, BC. Our purpose for the trip was to do some constellation photography at Porteau Cove and we were lucky that the sky that night was pretty clear. This was actually my first attempt in star photography. How to set up your DSLR: You'll need a tripod. Basically, you want to set your ISO to the highest setting and lowest aperture. You want to let in as much light as possible to maximize the number of stars in the sky. For the shutter speed, I used about 20-30secs.

It was pretty pitch dark seeing through the viewfinder. First, I had to focus on a lit object. We had our flashlights with us.

After having a chance to go out to photoshoot some stars and sky, somehow I have become fascinated with the constellation and solar system. Here are a few photos below:

Camera: Nikon D7000
Lens: Nikkor 18-200mm
ISO: 6400
f-stop: 3.5
Shutter speed: 30 seconds
