Rickie Fowler Voted May PGA TOUR Player of the Month

PGA TOUR and Avis Car Rental announced today that Rickie Fowler has been voted the May PGA TOUR Player of the Month presented by Avis. As the official rental car company of the PGA TOUR, Avis will make a $50,000 contribution to the Rickie Fowler Foundation. The Rickie Fowler Foundation's mission is to support  junior golf, particularly as it relates to children with fewer opportunities than others. In addition, the Foundation supports causes that are specifically connected to Rickie Fowler's unique ancestral lineage of Native American and Japanese cultures.

In a fan decision on PGATOUR.COM, Fowler received 53 percent of the votes and outpolled Matt Kuchar, Zach Johnson and Jason Dufner. The four were nominated by a panel of national media for their performances
during the month of May.

The 23-year-old Fowler captured his first career PGA TOUR victory at the Wells Fargo Championship in a playoff over Rory McIlroy and D.A. Points, and notched top-10 finishes in his other two starts at THE PLAYERS Championship (tie for second) and the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial (tie for fifth).

"Rickie Fowler's performance last month represents the Avis 'We try harder' spirit," said Jeannine Haas, chief marketing officer, Avis Budget Group. "We congratulate Rickie on his first PGA TOUR victory and on being named the May PGA TOUR Player of the Month. We're happy to donate $50,000 to his charity on his behalf."

"I'm very happy to have won the PGA TOUR Player of the Month award, and I appreciate the support of all the voters," said Fowler. "I have played well the past few weeks and look forward to continuing my good play. Most importantly, I want to thank Avis for the generous donation to my foundation and their continued support of the PGA Tour and its associated charities."
